MURANO GLASS TECHNIQUES

Murano Glass masters or "MAESTRI" serve the longest apprenticeship of its type anywhere on earth.  Becoming a murano glass master is an apprenticeship only open to family members or close exponents of the arts within the glass blowing fraternity in Murano.

Skill and techniques have been handed down from Father to Son and Maestro to Primo Servent or "First apprentice" since 1293.  The collage below will help to explain some of the techniques currently used with the Murano Glass blowing elite.
